About the company

The Association of Engineers and Technicians of Non-Ferrous Metals (Stowarzyszenie Inżynierów i Techników Metali Nieżelaznych, SITMN), based in Gliwice (ul. Sowińskiego 5/130), is an independent scientific, technical and managerial organisation bringing together engineers and technicians linked to the non-ferrous metals industry and to the universities, research institutes, design offices and companies working with it. Registered on 30 November 2004, it is entered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000222810. SITMN continues the Non-Ferrous Metals Branch of SITPH and draws on a tradition of organised mining and metallurgical engineering going back to 1892; on 21 June 2006 it was admitted to the Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations NOT as its 37th member association.

SITMN’s overriding statutory aim is to support the development of companies in the non-ferrous metals industry, regardless of their ownership, to foster cooperation between companies, research institutes and universities, and to bring together engineering, scientific and economic staff. The association runs a series of Quarterly Scientific and Technical Conferences, now numbering more than 200, and the Non-Ferrous Metals Forum, whose 10th anniversary edition was held in Kraków in May 2026. It is also active in publishing and training, and awards badges and Honorary Metallurgist Statuettes, including in the categories “Managerial Art” and “Engineering Creativity”.

SITMN operates through local branches, including at AGH University in Kraków, the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and its Legnica and Skawina branches, the “Głogów” and “Legnica” copper smelters of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Huta Cynku “Miasteczko Śląskie”, ZGH “Bolesław”, “Orzeł Biały”, Walcownia Metali “Dziedzice”, WMN “Łabędy”, Gränges Konin, ZM SILESIA and Bipromet. The association’s conferences cover the metallurgy and processing of non-ferrous metals, including the circular economy. As an IGMNiR member, SITMN represents the community of engineers, technicians and scientists of the non-ferrous metals industry.
