Scholz Polska Sp. z o.o., headquartered in Będzin (ul. Dąbrowska 73), collects, processes and trades steel and non-ferrous metal scrap and manages secondary raw materials and industrial waste; its principal activity according to the KRS is the treatment and disposal of non-hazardous waste. The company is registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000072046, and its sole shareholder is Scholz Recycling GmbH. It belongs to the Scholz Group – a German group with a history of nearly 150 years and companies in Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, the USA and Mexico. In October 2009 the SIGRA (since 1993) and Metal Recycling Grudziądz (since 1994) plants, previously operating separately within the Scholz Group, were merged into the company.
The company operates five branches – in Będzin, Kraków, Grudziądz, Skawina and Inowrocław – and a network of scrap buying points, including in Cieszyn, Mysłowice, Skoczów, Strzelce Opolskie, Tenczynek and Wieliczka. Steel scrap is processed into charge material for steelworks and foundries in line with customers’ quality requirements. The range also covers the collection of secondary raw materials, construction waste and industrial waste, including hazardous waste such as waste electrical and electronic equipment and spent batteries. The integrated management system, covering the collection and processing of waste including metal scrap, meets the requirements of EN ISO 9001:2015 and EN ISO 14001:2015 and has been certified by TÜV Nord Polska since 2004.
Non-ferrous scrap – above all copper, aluminium, lead, zinc and tin and their alloys – is sorted, cleaned and processed at specialised sites with analytical facilities and then supplied to smelters, foundries and refineries to their composition and size specifications. The company buys and processes, among other things, aluminium and aluminium-alloy scrap, used beverage cans, copper, brass and bronze scrap, zinc and lead scrap, copper and aluminium cables, lead-acid batteries, motors and aluminium dross, and as part of the Chiho / Scholz group sells them in Poland and abroad. As an IGMNiR member, Scholz Polska represents the scrap collection and processing industry, which supplies secondary raw materials to the steel and non-ferrous metals industries.
