About the company

GRUPA BOBREK Sp. z o.o., headquartered in Bobrek (ul. Krakowska 1A, Chełmek municipality), is a producer of recycling-based aluminium casting alloys, registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0001214155. The company was created on 2 January 2026 through the conversion of the general partnership Przedsiębiorstwo Metali Nieżelaznych “BOBREK” and continues its business; according to the register, its principal activity is the production of primary aluminium. The first melt in Bobrek took place in 1996. The group operates three production plants, including the Praszka branch opened in 2013, and employs around 250 people in total.

Maximum production capacity reaches 112,000 t a year, and the range comprises 254 casting alloy grades – based on secondary raw materials and on primary aluminium – with compositions conforming to PN-EN 1676 and PN-EN 1706, DIN, UNI, ASTM, SAE and other standards or to customer specifications. Alloys are supplied as three-part ingots (8–11 kg) or as liquid metal in 6-tonne crucibles, including self-unloading sets using LATT technology over distances of up to 600 km; liquid alloys from Praszka go directly to the production lines of Neapco Europe. Around 90% of output goes to the automotive industry, and the quality management system is certified to IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015. Under its Q-AL programme the company provides customers with technical and process support and laboratory testing.

The main raw material is scrap and production waste from aluminium alloys; the company also buys copper scrap (bare wire, tubes, fittings), primary aluminium and alloying additions. Every delivery undergoes radiometric, weight and spectrometric checks, and the liquid metal is refined with nitrogen and passed through ceramic filters. Thanks to the elimination of salts from the process, production dross (waste code 10 10 03) is not classified as hazardous; it contains on average 20–25% recoverable metallic aluminium and is offered to recycling companies. As an IGMNiR member, GRUPA BOBREK represents the secondary aluminium industry – the recycling of aluminium scrap and the production of casting alloys for foundries, particularly in the automotive sector.
