Strefowa 13), is a producer of refined tin and tin alloys from secondary raw materials, registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000158739. According to the register, its main business is lead, zinc and tin production. The company was formed in 2003 as a joint venture of DAN Engineering (Denmark), Stoop (Belgium) and Wildshaw Ltd (London), and the plant opened in 2004; its technological background goes back to the Danish Bergsøe group, which began recycling tin from cans in 1902. Describing itself as the most dedicated and modern tin recycler in Europe, the company processes almost all types of tin-bearing residues – metals, drosses, sludges and other residues except organic materials – around 16,000 t of raw materials a year, producing around 5,500 t of pure tin. The range includes tin in four grades, including 99.99%, and more than 250 tin and solder alloy products in the form of ingots, bars, sticks, wires, anodes, pellets and granules, as well as white metals, fluxes and antimonial lead; customers include the automotive, chemical, construction and electronics industries. A laboratory equipped with ICP-OES, ED-XRF and spark emission spectrometers, among others, handles over 2,500 raw-material batches a year, and the management system is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Besides tin, the company recovers silver, gold, copper and lead, refining them into alloys for renewed industrial use; according to the company, the carbon footprint of its tin ingot is 3.6 t CO₂e per tonne of tin. The plant operates under an integrated permit, is an upper-tier establishment (UTE) under the Seveso III Directive and is approved to receive waste in transboundary shipments in line with the Basel Convention. The company is a member of the International Tin Association, has achieved conformance with the Tin Code standards and is audited by the RBA under RMAP.
