About the company

CELSA “Huta Ostrowiec” Sp. z o.o., headquartered in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski (ul. Samsonowicza 2), is a producer of rolled and forged steel products, registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000123124; its principal registered activity is the manufacture of pig iron, ferro-alloys, cast iron, steel and metallurgical products. The works draws on more than 200 years of tradition – a blast furnace was built here in 1813 – and in autumn 2003 its assets were acquired by the Spanish Celsa Group, headquartered in Barcelona. The company’s sole shareholder is CELSA Huta Ostrowiec Holding sp. z o.o.; in 2017 it absorbed, among others, Złomhut sp. z o.o. and Drapol sp. z o.o.

The works melts steel in an electric arc furnace; according to the company, steel production amounts to 1.22 million t. The Rolled Products Plant makes concrete reinforcing bars, beams (IPE, IPN, HEA, HEB), UPN channels, equal angles, and flat, round and square bars. The Forged Products Plant produces open-die forgings – crankshafts and marine shafts, turbine components, rolls and ingots – for the energy, oil and gas, engine, tooling and metalworking sectors, in a full cycle covering steelmaking, forging, heat treatment and machining. The management system is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.

According to the company, 100% of the final product is made from recovered steel, and the electric arc furnace generates nine times fewer emissions than conventional blast furnaces; the company has set a target of cutting scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030. Its structure includes the Circularity Division, which at 20 sites in Poland sources and prepares steel scrap and non-ferrous scrap for recycling, using shredders, shears, balers and non-ferrous metal separation installations, among other equipment. As an IGMNiR member, CELSA Huta Ostrowiec represents scrap-based steelmaking and scrap processing, including the separation of non-ferrous fractions.
