About the company

Cummins Ltd. Spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością Oddział w Polsce, based in Modlniczka near Kraków (ul. Komandosów 1/9), is the Polish branch of the British company Cummins Ltd., headquartered in London, registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000198879 (since 2004). The branch’s principal registered activity is the retail sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories, and its scope also includes repair and maintenance of machinery and electrical equipment and installation of industrial machinery. The branch belongs to the Cummins group, founded in 1919 in Columbus, Indiana; in Europe the group has operated since 1956 and has 12 manufacturing plants and more than 10,800 employees.

The Cummins group offers diesel, natural gas and alternative-fuel engines, generator sets and power systems, and components – including engine components, aftertreatment systems and automated transmissions – as well as zero-emission solutions under the Accelera brand. In Poland, Cummins engines operate in KGHM Polska Miedź mines, among others, where there are over 700 of them: according to the company, more than 1,400 engines have been supplied for the mining fleet over the last 10 years in cooperation with KGHM ZANAM, and the Lubin branch, with a team of 24 technicians, maintains more than 750 engines around the clock. These engines meet the EU Stage V emission standard.

Kraków is home to the group’s European engine rebuild centre (MRC), which rebuilds high-horsepower mining engines to factory specifications using genuine parts; under an exchange model, a worn engine is replaced with a fully remanufactured one, which the company presents as a sustainable alternative to buying new units. The group pursues its Destination Zero strategy, which includes battery-electric and hydrogen technologies for mining. As an IGMNiR member, Cummins represents suppliers of drives, service and engine remanufacturing for copper ore mining and the extractive industry.
