About the company

Izba Pracodawców Recyklingu Opakowań “Ekopak” (Chamber of Packaging Recycling Employers), headquartered in Katowice (ul. Ceglana 4), is an employers’ association registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000701610; it was entered in the register on 27 October 2017. Under its statutes, the Chamber represents and protects the rights and interests of its member employers in matters of waste management – in particular packaging recycling – and employment, conducts dialogue with central and local government bodies, issues opinions on draft legislation concerning business activity and environmental protection, and supports companies in meeting their environmental obligations.

The Chamber runs the EKOPAK Voluntary Agreement – concluded with the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship – for setting up and maintaining a system for the collection, transport, recycling or disposal of waste from multi-material packaging and from packaging of hazardous substances, including plant protection products. The agreement is open to companies based in Poland that place products in such packaging on the market; on their behalf, the Chamber takes over the obligations related to collection and recycling, coordinates the work of recyclers, oversees the documentation confirming that the required recycling levels have been achieved, cooperates with recovery organisations on single-material packaging and provides participants with legal assistance.

The Chamber’s activities focus on recycling, the circular economy, regulatory change and the green transition; in 2026 it received a distinction in the Marka Śląskie 2026 competition in the “Non-governmental organisations” category. Its statutes also provide for participation in public hearings in the law-making process and for fostering informational, organisational and technological cooperation between employers. As an IGMNiR member, the “Ekopak” Chamber brings to the Chamber the perspective of an employers’ organisation from the packaging recycling sector and experience in fulfilling the obligations of companies placing packaged products on the market.
