The plant’s history goes back to 1992 and the joint venture Euro Construction Poli Polska, which later operated as DBT Polska and Bucyrus Polska; KONKO Sp. z o.o. was established in 2009 and converted into a joint-stock company in 2013. Its subsidiary Chemont Solutions Sp. z o.o. carries out projects for the chemical and petrochemical industries.
The company describes itself as a medium-sized firm providing comprehensive prefabrication of steel structures based on customer documentation. With 6,000 m² of plant space, 4 assembly halls, 40 welding and 15 assembly stations, it can produce up to 12,000 t of steel structures a year; its equipment includes a robotic welding station, CNC cutting machines and machine tools, and it has its own design office. The range covers complete longwall shield supports and their components, face and stage loader conveyors, overhauls of mining machinery and structures for the power, construction and transport sectors. KONKO’s solutions are used in underground and open-pit mines and in industrial plants in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. Its cable regeneration workshop for mining, metallurgy and power repairs 1 to 1.5 km of cables a month, restoring the original conductor design by butt welding; according to the company, regeneration costs no more than 20% of the price of a new cable. Steel structures are protected against corrosion, among other methods, by hot-dip galvanising. As an IGMNiR member, KONKO represents the machinery and structural supply base for underground mining, as well as cable regeneration for mining and metallurgy.
