“KM-METAL” Machoń Sp.j., headquartered in Blachownia (ul. 1 Maja 3), is a metallurgical plant specialising in the recycling and processing of secondary raw materials, registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0000304400; its principal activity is light-metal casting. The company has been on the market since 2003 – initially focusing on the purchase and processing of secondary raw materials – and in 2008 the civil-law partnership was converted into a general partnership. Today it describes itself as one of the main suppliers of aluminium deoxidisers and ferroalloys for steelmaking and foundries in Poland and abroad.
Production is based on an aluminium foundry equipped with induction furnaces, where dross and scrap are melted into aluminium for steel deoxidation in the form of ingots, pyramids and granules; the products correspond to the A4, A5 and A6 metallurgical grades, and the composition of each batch is verified spectrometrically by the in-house laboratory. The plant has baling presses, separation lines and dust-extraction filters above the melting stations. In a B2B model the company offers toll processing of aluminium slag, briquetting of production swarf and the preparation of granules and ingots of specified composition, and also sells ferroalloys. In addition, it runs a heating plant supplying heat to the residents of Blachownia and a coal depot.
By its own account, KM-METAL is one of the few companies specialising in processing non-ferrous metal dross and foundry waste; it buys non-ferrous metals on the basis of spectrometric analysis and recovers aluminium from production waste, including the recycling of aluminium dross and slag in induction and rotary furnaces. It sources raw materials in Poland and abroad, and its website announces plans to launch an additional line for the production of aluminium alloys. As an IGMNiR member, KM-METAL represents aluminium recycling and the processing of non-ferrous dross into charge materials for steelmaking.
