STARMET Sp. z o.o., headquartered in Stargard (ul. Główna 13), is a recycling and trading company engaged in the processing, recovery, trading and recycling of scrap and plastics; according to the register, its main activity is the wholesale of waste and scrap. The company, registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0001202211, was formed in 2025 through the conversion of “STARMET” M. Buszko Spółka Jawna. Its history goes back to 1996, when a small non-ferrous scrap yard was opened; since 2000 the business has operated under the Starmet brand, and its plant occupies a 4-hectare site.
The core business is the recycling of cables and wires – from dismantled vehicles, household appliances, consumer electronics and IT equipment, power, control and telecommunications cables, and production waste. A third cable-processing line, purchased in 2006, raised throughput to around 3,500 t of cable waste a year, and in 2019 the company obtained funding from the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014–2020 to build a cable and wire processing plant with a capacity of 18,000 t a year. Under the project “Implementation of an innovative technology for recycling copper from automotive cables”, a dry recovery method is being introduced that yields granulate of the highest purity class. The company sells 99.9% copper granulate, delivered in big bags or in bulk in lots of 800 kg to 24 t.
In addition to cables, the company buys and sells copper, brass and bronze, aluminium, zinc, lead, stainless steel and iron scrap, as well as scrap electric motors, alternators and starters. Since 2008, plastics recovered from cable waste have been used to make road infrastructure and construction elements, including sign bases. On its website the company presents a Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) membership certificate and its distinction in the Forbes Diamonds 2023 ranking. As an IGMNiR member, STARMET represents cable waste recycling and the recovery of copper and aluminium from cables and wires.
