RMB S.p.A.
RMB S.p.A., headquartered in Polpenazze del Garda in the province of Brescia (Via Montecanale 3), is an Italian company engaged in the recovery and disposal of special waste, including the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, registered in the Brescia REA register under number 257290 (VAT number 00617120985). Founded in 1981 as a scrap metal collection and trading business, it now describes itself as one of Europe’s leading multi-purpose platforms for the recovery of special waste. Together with its associated companies and subsidiaries – including RIAM in Bollate, GARM in Gavardo, RMI in Castelnuovo del Garda, AUTORE in Settimo Torinese and Tobanelli in Bedizzole – it forms a network of plants that treat waste close to where it arises. The company employs some 400 people.
The Polpenazze del Garda platform covers 100,000 m², half of it under roof, and operates under an AIA-IPPC integrated environmental permit (Province of Brescia, no. 698/2024) authorising the treatment of 780,000 t of waste a year; 661,517 t were processed in 2025. More than 20 plants, designed by the in-house technical office, carry out shredding, screening, flotation and washing, alloy separation, metal recovery from bottom ash from waste-to-energy plants and the production of aggregates. Inputs include end-of-life vehicles, engines, mixed ferrous and non-ferrous metals and mineral materials. The management system is certified by DNV to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SA8000 and UNI/PdR 125:2022.
Non-ferrous fractions – aluminium, copper, lead, brass, zamak, zinc and their alloys – are separated using eddy-current separators, optical sorting, flotation and hand picking, among other methods. The company holds end-of-waste attestations for iron, steel and aluminium scrap under EU Regulation 333/2011 and for copper and its alloys under EU Regulation 715/2013, and from aluminium recovered from end-of-life vehicle engines it produces RESAL, a raw material matching the composition of the EN AB 46000 alloy. According to the company, more than 3 million t of raw materials were returned to the market in 2015–2024. As an IGMNiR member, RMB S.p.A. represents the Italian multi-purpose recycling sector for metal-bearing waste, including the recovery of aluminium and copper from vehicle scrap and bottom ash.
