About the company

Hydro Aluminium Poland Sp. z o.o., headquartered in Kęty (ul. Tadeusza Kościuszki 111), was formed by the transformation of Alumetal S.A. and was registered in the Polish National Court Register under KRS 0001212421 in January 2026. The company belongs to the Norwegian Hydro group – an aluminium and renewable energy company employing 32,000 people at more than 140 locations in 40 countries – which acquired Alumetal in 2023; in January 2026 the plants were rebranded as Hydro. The Kęty office, with 57 employees, manages production at the former Alumetal plants in Kęty, Nowa Sól, Gorzyce and Komarom in Hungary, and is responsible for sales, purchasing, health and safety, and product and technology development.

The plants produce aluminium foundry alloys from recycled aluminium, mainly for the European automotive industry – which accounts for around 80% of products or customers at Kęty and Gorzyce. The Kęty plant, whose origins go back to 1953 and the installation of its first induction furnace, has an annual capacity of 87,500 t and also supplies fluxes and salts; a modernised casting line and a solar farm were commissioned there in 2025. The Nowa Sól plant, built in 2011–2013, has a capacity of 60,000 t of alloys a year, and the Gorzyce plant (2005–2007) 52,500 t; Gorzyce also produces master alloys, AlTiB grain-refiner wire and aluminium for steel deoxidation. The plants hold IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certificates, among others, as well as EPD environmental product declarations for recycled foundry alloys.

The company’s business is built on recycling: the plants buy all types of aluminium scrap – production and post-consumer scrap, castings, alloy turnings, cans, wheels and aluminium dross – as well as copper, titanium and zirconium scrap, with every delivery analysed for chemical composition and contamination. The Nowa Sól plant is a scrap processing centre able to sort 120,000 t a year; in 2025 its sorting line was extended with two HySort sorters using LIBS spectroscopy, and the independent auditor DNV inspected it for the production of Hydro CIRCAL – recycled aluminium with a guaranteed minimum of 75% post-consumer scrap. As an IGMNiR member, Hydro Aluminium Poland represents aluminium recycling and the production of foundry alloys from scrap.
